In 2025, you can buy a credible daily commuter electric motorcycle for $4,000–8,000 or a performance machine that embarrasses most gas bikes for $15,000–30,000. The range limitations are real — most electric motorcycles max out at 80–120 miles vs 200+ for gas bikes — but for daily commuting and local riding, range is rarely the limiting factor.

Electric Motorcycle Range Reality
Electric motorcycle range drops significantly at highway speeds — more so than EVs due to aerodynamics and smaller batteries:
- City speeds (25–45 mph): Best range (100–150 miles for full-size bikes)
- Mixed use (50–65 mph): 60–80% of city range
- Highway speeds (70–80 mph): 50–60% of city range
The Zero S’s 116-mile city range becomes approximately 71 miles at sustained highway speeds. Plan routes accordingly — electric motorcycles are not long-distance highway touring tools yet.
Charging Electric Motorcycles
